Stefano Cerio an Italian photographer, travels to China to take eerie photos of abandoned amusement parks. He first started his photography career at the age of 18, and he now works in Rome and Paris. In these photos he took a voyage to Beijing, Shanghai, Qingdao, and Hong Kong, snapping pictures of the lively parks on the other side of the world.
Cerio describes his work as "exploring the boundary lines between vision, recounting the real and the spectator's horizon of expectation, the staging of a possible reality that might not be true but is at least plausible." While he does take amazing photos, he also creates videos of the places that he travels to. They are posted on his website here http://www.cerio.it/. These photo are very engaging to look at, because they show what is not usually seen. When we go to amusement parks we only see the rides working and hundreds of people in line waiting. Here in these photos there is nothing going on, no rides, no people, nothing. That's what pulls me in is the unlikely hood of people seeing amusement parks not being used. Cerio has more like these, just go to the website and you will see the pictures he has taken. All of them are just as fascinating as these here.
