This was one of my first critiques of the year. Its pretty pathetic, and also I don't know how to screenshot on computers so I just took a picture of it and sent it to myself.
This is a piece that I did in the middle of the semester, I like this one quite a bit. While I was sketching out this piece I realized that when you are doing repetitive things in a piece you really need to take your time with it. When you first start doing a line over and over again in the beginning you are really taking your time with it, but in the end you get messy and they don't look as nice as in the beginning. So working on this project has taught me how to take my time even though it seams simple.
The art criticism process is actually quite simple. When you are critiquing an art piece it could be difficult, but really its just looking at all the little things in the piece. You don't have to look at the fact if it all goes together nicely, just looking into the art and "reading in between the lines" of art.
1. What is art? In my opinion there really isn't an answer to that question. There is so many different types of art and varieties, and different people like different things in art. Some person may think that art isn't really that interesting and couldn't really care a whole lot for it. Other people might think that art is the most amazing thing that man kind could create. In my opinion art is feelings and thoughts put on a piece of paper without using words. Art could tell you a lot of things if you could read what its saying.
4. What are some reasons that artist make art? I couldn't answer that question for every artist out there, but I would think the reason that they make art is to express the things that are inside of them that they cannot put into words. Or, sometimes, art makes people happy, so they might just like seeing/making a stranger smile. Knowing that they are the reason that they are smiling.
5. What is an artistic style? An artistic style is the way an artist does his/her work. Most artist have a theme to their work, so that theme is their style of art. With their styles they mostly make all of their art the same way just with different story to it everytime.
i think the background makes the cat pop out more, and i coudlve blended better. i chose my cat for my piece, because he is my favorite thing in the world. i have never worked with colored pencil before so i wanted to work with it, and i thought it would work well with the fur.
winter is happening right now so, why not make some art about it. carving out the branches was difficult. i would make the snow more realistic.
none of the warm ups really helped me because there wasnt really any shading or fur, or anything like that. autumn is my favorite thing in the whole world, and i wish it was fall all the time. so decided to paint fall. trying to get all of the branches painted and the layers in the tree was hard. but i just tried to make it all go together. i think the leaves are working really well, i didnt want to do actual leafs but i didnt want to do just blobs, so i kinda just made something.
This is the finished product of my inspired ink. Both my piece and my inspired one have cross hatching as the main part of the picture. My values are in the shading behind the apple. First I sketch everything out and after that I basically just cross hatch over all my sketch.
This is the finished product of my zentangle. I thought this project was very free minded and I loved that. I got most of my designs offline, but if I kept working at this for a while I would fall in love with it.
This is the finished product of my eye ink. This was harder drawing detailed things with pen because it isn't erasable. My eye was kind of off to the side, but the whole idea was to see what the eye saw.
This is the finished piece of my inspired art. What inspired me was the way everything was so random but it was so well put together. The way it looks its like you put so much time and effort and really the first think you thought of was what you put down on the paper. The medium I picked was acrylic paint, I wanted to use this medium because I really like the way acrylic paint flows on the paper, and there is so many things that you can use it with. Its pretty similar to others that are random. but what makes it mine is that there is section and each section is different from every other one. I think the shapes in the sections over all really went well together and the white in the spaces makes it look nice. In the future I would do something with the black piece In the middle of the page.
